PHP Web Developer - CSS/HTML/JS/AJAX (3 years experience +) We are currently in the search phase for a programmer/tech lead at our company. We currently don’t have someone “in-house” so this will be • General thoughts about the position: o You’ll be the solo developer while we push through our growth phase. You can imagine the various needs on many different levels, from in-house technical support, to large scale internet applications. This won’t be a button pusher role. You’ll be in the thick of things and carry a significant amount of responsibility. • Track-Record: o Portfolio demonstrating your skills o Project experience designing and implementing client/server APIs o Must have written several complex web apps with PHP5'PHP4 o Optimize SQL queries and understand object oriented programming o A minimum of 3 years PHP or combined PHP development involving both front end and back end programming o Experience working with Unix/Linux Servers and writing secure applications • Technical Abilities: o HTML standards, JS/CSS/DOM/AJAX, XML, PHP 5/PHP OOP o Server administration o PC/MAC troubleshooting o E-Commerce development experience (cart systems, payment systems and set-up, security) o Will carry a pager and be available during scheduled shift to deal with emergencies o Internet Marketing, SEO + Analytics experience a plus o Experience with additional programming languages preferred • This is not essential, but there will be a requirement for server/network/security support:  Ensure high level of server and network security  Assist with server administration and server security  Create and maintain detailed documentation of server and database environment  Maintain in-house computer equipment  Manipulate data and log files to provide extensive statistical reporting  Various office technical issues, computers, servers, printers • Thinking Style: o Conscientious and disciplined o You must be a problem solver who has proven your abilities to assess, research, and implement solutions rapidly while maintaining quality and reliability. o Internet savvy, passionate about learning and expanding your skills… not afraid to take on new challenges and share with the team • Project Management: o Meet with project team members to develop an understanding of business and end-user requirements. o Disciplined to manage project deliverables, maintain control over your budgets, resources, and deliverables o Regular project updates with quasi-detailed timesheets o Willingness to lead and foster team growth • Basic Graphics: o Working knowledge of graphics software (Photoshop) avoiding total dependence on graphic designer (basically you are able to work from a template and create basic graphics) o Flash experience a plus (ActionScripting) • Work Ethic - you’ll be successful here if you enjoy: o Above all, you understand that by putting in a little extra effort we can make a big difference. o A variety of work, the freedom to be an innovator o The routine of managing projects (deliverables, timing, budgets) o Minimal supervision o At times work with little formal documentation, we’ll need you to modify/maintain existing websites/systems on a 24 x 7 basis while always keeping the future expansion and flexibility of the application in your brain. o This industry has its ups and downs like any other… at times we’ll be moving at break neck speeds to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects.
